- The comp/sci students are being treated like latchkey children. They currently hangout in the hallway while everyone else has room to hack and work.
- Computer Education requires creative experimentation, tutelage and collaboration. This can not be accomplished without the students having an open hacking space any more than the photography program can teach photography without an open wetlab.
- Computer Science students need to know that they can come into the school at various times and know that they will find a home where other computer science students are working on software projects and assignments.
- Computer Science students need a place for themselves on campus. Even if it just for socializing and eating Piazza. The school library can not substitute for this. They need a less structured place where they can dump there hardware, collaborate and share ideas. This is the CORNERSTONE of every successful computer science program.
- Comp Sci Students have to stop being treated like the enemy who don't belong on the campus, which is exactly how they currently feel.
- Computer Science Labs are a studio, and a crucible where IT talent is forged, and where they learn the vital skills to debate and work with peers which determines the difference between success or failure in the job market.
