SUBJECT | Subject: [Hangout - NYLXS] I want to hand a new server for Artix development
|
Hi mrbrklyn,
On https://forum.artixlinux.org/index.php/topic,4876.0/topicseen.html I read your update, that you might be able to share a box. That would be very kind of you.
The current build server I use has the following specs: - 4 CPUs - 16GB internal memory - 200 GB disk space Which is adequate for building larger packages like ie Betterbird.
I do not know if it's even feasible to provide a similar server, but thank you for looking into this.
Kind regards, artist
I am talking with my NYLXS team about this. I think we can do something

The requirements are about the same as before, with some notes added:
- 16GB internal memory - 32GB might some times be(come) required - 4 CPUs - 6 or 8 reduces build times for Rust based packages and eg. Betterbird and Ungoogled-chromium - 200 GB disk space
Bandwidth should not be a problem as the machine does not need to host the packages to all users.
For security I always restrict direct access using a firewall to a single port which only accepts ssh traffic from my fixed IP address, and only with a very secure SSH key. I can also add Fail2ban of course.

what are your current needs. Throwing another machine on the network is not a problem, and they are so cheap these days. I am just worried about bandwidth and security (of course).
