I am just one of the "dreadful" people born in NYC to a family that has lived continually in NYC since 1834 so we wouldn't know much of what we talk about.
I am sure you also grew up in East New York, so you are very familiar with growing up is a city where you could stand on the subway platform of New Lotts Avenue and look up in all directions and see nothing but rubble.
I'm sure you've had the common experience of being surrounded by 15+ black young men and pounded and beaten to steal 15 cents.
Or grew up in a High School which was afraid to open its cafeteria because the last time it did so it ended up with a violent riot with several students and faculty ending up at Brookdale hospital.
You are a REAL expert on the City of New York.
You grew up playing softball on an empty lot on Wall Street where the Bear Stearns (whatever it is now) bluilding now stands. You remember a choke ful onuts on nearly every street in Midtown and the hard working black women who ran them befire Fred Black died. You remember school hours being cut back to 10AM to 2:30 because of a lack of funds, and syringes splatters all about Times Square and the call girls hanging out at Nathans on Bway and 45 and the Howard Johnsons.
You rember the Biltmore hotel and the shows at GCT, and watch repair place secretedly hidden in the Rooservelt Hotel passage. You remeber Penn Station and the Pennsylvania and Stanton hotel, and the Conrad.
Because your an expert on NYC.
Here are facts for you to chew on:

https://www.nytimes.com/2023/11/24/opinion/eric-adams-nyc-budget.html
Unemployment in New York City is 5.4%—more than three times higher than in Miami... and that is seriously undercounted.
Nearly 160 Wall Street firms with nearly $1 trillion in assets have moved their headquarters out of the state since the end of 2019.
New York state and local tax revenue for the first seven months of this fiscal year is running $9 billion lower than last year...
according to the WSJ

https://www.nytimes.com/2023/06/05/nyregion/mta-fare-evasion.html (that is laughable there is in ZERO enforcement since the DAs office said they wouldn't pursue fare beaters)

This is a case of UNDERREPORTING if ever there was..

Let me know if you need more because I haven't even tapped the Universities reposoitories of Government data and I haven't evena addressed the mentally ill dumped onto the subway, or the sanitation problem, graffiti, etc etc.

Of all the families I raised my children with TWO remain in NYC since 2007 and almost none of the next genration.
My family that has been in NYC for 180 years, I have 6 children and ONE is still in NYC because it is dirty, expensive, overtaxed and DANGEROUS.
