Hi there

Mohammad asked me to the edition this week as well, so now you are stuck
with me. Again :)

Last week I wrote about my offer to companies to help with the maintenance
of open source Perl (and Python) libraries they rely on. One of the
responses I got was from someone who wanted to help with abandoned modules
in his free time. He asked me which modules are abandoned?

The PAUSE operating model (
https://pause.perl.org/pause/query?ACTION=3Dpause_operating_model ) mention=
s
3 special owners that can help identify modules that are up for adoption or
otherwise need help. You can see the lists here: ADOPTME (
https://rt.cpan.org/Dist/ByMaintainer.html?Name=3DADOPTME ), HANDOFF (
https://rt.cpan.org/Dist/ByMaintainer.html?Name=3DHANDOFF ), and NEEDHELP (
https://rt.cpan.org/Dist/ByMaintainer.html?Name=3DNEEDHELP ).

More details can be seen on the CPANMeta site: for example for the modules
owned by ADOPTME (
https://cpanmeta.grinnz.com/perms?author=3DADOPTME&module=3D&match_mode=3De=
xact )

Another type of listing can be found on Meta::CPAN. e.g. the permissions of
HANDOFF ( https://metacpan.org/author/HANDOFF/permissions ).

Finally, I've also started to create similar listings with a different view
on modules that are up for adoption (
https://cpan-digger.perlmaven.com/adoption ).

So if you have free time and would be interested to contribute to the Perl
community, one way would be to pick up a module and start maintaining it.
If you need help with that, let me know and I'll try to point you to the
channels where you can get help ( https://perlmaven.com/help ).

-

On a more personal note, I just finished watching the mini-series A Small
Light ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Small_Light ). It made me really
sad and at the same time furious with all the self-declared 'humanitarians'
who try to paint Israel as being similar to Nazi Germany. It is especially
disgusting, and even frightening, when celebrities do it and tens of
thousands of people celebrate them.

-

Anyway, enjoy your week!

=20

Hi there

=20

Mohammad asked me to the edition this week as well, so now you are =
stuck with me. Again :)

=20

Last week I wrote about my offer to companies to help with the main=
tenance of open source Perl (and Python) libraries they rely on. One of the=
responses I got was from someone who wanted to help with abandoned modules=
in his free time. He asked me which modules are abandoned?

=20

The erating_model">PAUSE operating model mentions 3 special owners that can=
help identify modules that are up for adoption or otherwise need help. You=
can see the lists here: tml?Name=3DADOPTME">ADOPTME, tainer.html?Name=3DHANDOFF">HANDOFF, and /Dist/ByMaintainer.html?Name=3DNEEDHELP">NEEDHELP.

=20

More details can be seen on the CPANMeta site: for example for the =
modules owned by TME&module=3D&match_mode=3Dexact">ADOPTME

=20

Another type of listing can be found on Meta::CPAN. e.g. the permis=
sions of HANDOF=
F
.

=20

Finally, I've also started to create similar listings with a differ=
ent view on modules that are up for n.com/adoption">adoption.

=20

So if you have free time and would be interested to contribute to t=
he Perl community, one way would be to pick up a module and start maintaini=
ng it. If you need help with that, let me know and I'll try to point you to=
the channels where you can get help=
.

=20

-

=20

On a more personal note, I just finished watching the mini-series <=
a href=3D"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Small_Light">A Small Light. I=
t made me really sad and at the same time furious with all the self-declare=
d 'humanitarians' who try to paint Israel as being similar to Nazi Germany.=
It is especially disgusting, and even frightening, when celebrities do it =
and tens of thousands of people celebrate them.

=20

=20

Anyway, enjoy your week!

otherwise need help.

=20

Another type of listing can be found on Meta::CPAN. e.g. the permis=
sions of HANDOF=

ng it. If you need help with that, let me know and I'll try to point you to=
