Dear Ruben Safir,
**We are proud to announce the fifteenth edition of the Free Software Foundation's (FSF) conference on ethical technology and user freedom, which will be held in spring 2023, both online and in Boston (exact venue TBD). In these fifteen years, LibrePlanet has always been a community that brings together concerned users of all varieties to carve out the direction of software freedom for today as well as for years to come. The [call for sessions][1] is now open and will close on November 2, 2022. Potential talks should examine free software through the lens of the theme "Charting the Course."**

LibrePlanet has always been a community event. We have placed individuals from the community front and center, making the conference an experience focused on connection, collaboration, and education. Together, let's imagine a sustainable future in which privacy is respected, technology follows the highest ethical standards, and software and users are truly free. Together, let's chart the course for coming generations to software freedom.
[**Submit your session today!**][1]

## LibrePlanet: Charting the Course
At [LibrePlanet 2023][2], we will discuss new opportunities and new threats to the movement, such as artificial intelligence, technology in health care, and the role free software has to play in achieving ecological sustainability. Now, it's time for us to chart the course through to full digital freedom for all of us. Let's build a future where it is the user and not corporate monopolies that control our ways of communicating, what information we want to share, and how we want to live.
[2]: https://libreplanet.org/2023
**Submissions to the call for sessions are being accepted through Wednesday, November 2, 12:00 EDT (16:00 UTC). General registration, exhibitor registration, and sponsoring packages will follow soon.**
We invite activists, hackers, law professionals, artists, educators, students, developers, new and familiar faces alike, policymakers, tinkerers, free software beginners, and anyone looking for technology that aligns with their ideals to [submit a proposal][1] for a session at [LibrePlanet 2023][2]. To access the submission form, use your my.fsf.org username *mrbrklyn*. Session proposals can focus on software development, copyleft, community, or other issues related to the theme.
Are you integrating free software into your life, or are you struggling to do just that? We want to hear from you! Examine free software through the theme "Charting the Course" and:
* Share how you integrate free software in your daily life, your struggles and successes;
* Give a talk exploring the theme through broader spheres of education, licensing, medicine, government, business, art, social movements, or improving accessibility;
* Tell the world about your free software project;
* Suggest an educational panel or Q&A session on a pressing topic like free software in artificial intelligence or software-driven cars;
* Explore current topics in free software licensing and copyleft, or give a great licensing tutorial;
* Host a workshop or tutorial on how to use a free software tool, free software program, or free hardware project;
* Explore a free software concept or share your technical knowledge in an interactive session or through a live programming session, or
* Lead a project "sprint" (a group work session).
All sessions will be reviewed by a community committee representing a wide range of expertise. It's important to us to provide sessions that are friendly to newcomers, as well as those that help experienced hackers improve their technical skills. Whatever your experience level or the experience level of your audience, we want to include your session! If you're new to the community, or if you're looking for inspiration, check out last year's [conference site and session videos][3]. Anyone interested in doing a workshop can also do so by submitting to the call for sessions. We hope that we get as many great workshop submissions as we did [last year][4] so that we can do another series.
If you have any questions, comments, ideas, if you would like to be part of the LibrePlanet 2023 committee, if you need help with your session proposal, or if you would like to just socialize, please come meet with us in our LibrePlanet hour on IRC.
These sessions will be held weekly office hours on Thursdays, starting September 22 (with the exception of October 6) from 13:00 to 14:00 EDT (17:00 - 18:00 UTC) in the #libreplanet channel of the [Libera.chat][5] IRC network.
