Dear volunteer applicant:
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the Museum. I am excited to announce our 2021 Fossil Explainer class, to be held from February through April, using a blend of remote and on-site learning. If you are interesting in applying for this class, please reply to this email with a brief cover letter about why you would be interested in being a Fossil Explainer. We will then schedule a quick chat over Zoom to review the program in detail and make sure it is a good fit. Here is some preliminary information:
* Once-weekly classes via Zoom, each Sunday from 1:00 - 3:00 * First class expected on February 7th, with sessions through the end of April * Additional tours and lectures offered via Zoom weekly * Use of e-learning webpage to host resources * Each student will have 2-3 experienced mentors to work with * On-site practice and final walkthroughs planned for late spring if deemed safe at that time * Upon successful completion of the class, Fossil Explainers will be asked to work a minimum of two 2-hour shifts per month in the fossil halls * Explainers answer questions and interpret displays but do not give formal hall tours * Shifts are available weekdays from 1:00 - 5:00 and weekends from 11:00 - 5:00
