Not any more and even in the old days, those lists were never current,
so they were not overly useful.
there are levels of compatability as well, especxially with the security
problems in the intel prognostic software in the chips that had to be
disabled.
If you ask Rick Moen this question, he will give you a very long drusha
on how you should bring a live CD to the computer store and test
systems. I find that problematic for mumerous reasons though, not the
least of which is that often a live set will work and a more generic
setup on the hard drive will not.
Then there is another issue, which is that of a motherboard.
Motherboards were a quaint idea years ago, but largely, SOC has made
them mute.
Systems are increasingly integrated. Video cards are coopered by Intel
CPUs which even carry Intel® Optane™ memory which is pretty much RAM.
For me, I start out that the brand needs to assert tht they have linux
compatibility. This is not a perfect method, but with now billions of
linux based devices and the large number of linux users, if they don't
even recongnize us, fuck em.
That is one of the reasons I tend to buy HP, or Fit/PCs. I have broough
Lenova laptops, 8 years ago or so, by Lenovoa to find out that the
integrated touchpad by Elan would never work with Linux. Bestbuy as not
happy with me returning it with the OS converted. So much for their
"Geek Squad". I changed it for other Lenovo, if I recall.

To my knowledge, there are no PCs with signed binaries.

They are largely integrated into the CPU unless you want to go something
like gaming, or are doing CUDA programming etc.
