It sucks and it won't work. Try getting your staff into Thomas Jefferson HS in East New York and support gang members in changing there lives in real ways by being there for them IN the schools.
Repeat with Wingate, Boys and Girls, Tilden, Canarsie, and so on until you, over 20 years, finally start to have a real impact.
It sucks tha NYC has the greatest cultural institutions iin the world and Contributeed NOTHING to the public school system over than an occasional class trip.
I love the Guggenhein but please don't blow smoke at me. I've watched these communities abandoned and the children adandoned for decades and your not going to just whip up a policy and fix generations of entrenched ghetto poverty without years of back breaking labor and work.
And BTW - these kids are dangerous and often armed... just to let you know.

This comprehensive plan commits the museum to urgent actions that we believe in as an institution, and it is the beginning of an important cultural shift. The plan will be implemented across the institution in four key areas: staffing and culture; board diversification and governance; collection, exhibitions, research, and publications; and audience engagement. > Through months of conversations with our staff we have reflected on the structure, dynamics, and impact of our work. This is a commitment to an ongoing process. We recognize that growth can occur via grand gestures and radical shifts, but more often it takes place through consistent changes in the everyday performance of tasks and behaviors grounded in new norms. > > > > We look forward to keeping you apprised and to your ongoing partnership.
