Hello,
I am another person=C2=A0 that did not like the show. It is indeed=C2=A0 to=
o much giggling, smiling. Too amateurish...
I personally think that the presenter (Emily) does not seem to grasp well t=
he science of paleontology. And why should she? after all=C2=A0 she is not =
a degreed paleontologist !. I think it depicts paleontology in a too ideali=
stic way i.e. you just dig here and there and there it is ! Museum quality =
piece ! The=C2=A0 reality is that field work is hard work many times under =
harsh conditions.=C2=A0

But I did like to see Native Americans=C2=A0 participating in the show, sho=
wing that they also do some paleontology in their lands.

Oh, grow up.
Having talked with Emily Graslie before, during, and after the filming of t=
his, there was indeed a conscious choice of representation in this show. An=
d the idea was that after fifty years of paleo-documentaries on TV, maybe h=
aving ONE that doesn't heavily feature white men from big institutions is o=
kay. Just one. You may have missed the fact that she tried to focus on rese=
arch not by the AMNH or Smithsonian or so forth. The MOR and the ROM were t=
he biggest institutions represented, and she tried to make sure many smalle=
r ones were featured as well (the Tate, Carter County, etc.).
Obviously this is more than your sweet little self can handle.
Additionally, Graslie states the premise from the beginning: it is to show =
something of process of discovery being made and the people making it in th=
e places she grew up. Full stop. Never claimed that this was a remake of Wa=
lking with Dinosaurs or Lost Worlds, Vanished Lives or whatever. Those alre=
ady exist. This was supposed to be a different kind of story.
And her attitude is a big feature on SciShow. Some people might like it, ot=
hers don't. Your mileage may vary.
