Caroline, I am sorry you are offended but nobody is accusing you of being a communist. This is a discussion about the medical and political response to SARS2 virus by valued healthcare people. Your position is being respected and explored. I hope you can grace us with the same on your part by answering these tough criticisms to the serious positions you present.
You can not deny that use of tracking is what is being used and proposed by Chairman Xi and is what they are holding up as a new standard for the world, as the new Chinese standard, "Safety and prosperity" through population control, and and the use of artificial intelligence to track the population, and to subjugate them. They use tracking to control their populations, suppress their Muslim minority, and push their people to conform with state mandates. This is why Hong Kong is aflame and how we ended up with COVID-19 in the first place. The proposal to track everyone with an AI is being proposed by health professionals through out the world with a varying degree of efficacy with regard to viral control. Results that looked promising in some places, look far less so at the moment. However, in all cases it will permanently damage our political freedom and destroy what remains of our freedom of movement and Democracy. You can't have one without the other. As it is, everyone that enters our facility is tracked through Domains. In this regard, we already treat our poor and minorities like cattle.
COVID-19 is a serious epidemic, but it should not have been a civilization ending event. It should have been planned for as it was expected. Our politicians like Andrew Cuomo who is being glorified should be facing tough questions as to why we weren't ready, and why we didn't have enough PPEs, and Quarantine facilities, and emergency plans. And yet we are backing ourselves into a corner.
How many would have died of COVID-19 if we did nothing? Maybe 2 million lives lost? 2 million deaths in a population of nearly 360 million people to a disease is not unheard of in the annals of civilization and these kind of events are part of what civilization always has to deal with. If this is not acceptable, why are we not more aggressively pushing for a vaccination and anti-viral treatments. We have a few dozen immunological and anti-viral candidates, and our bureaucracy is behaving like it is business as usual. . Dealing with it without destroying economic growth, and pulling apart our social cohesion was a major accomplishment of the 20th century, and it was a political accomplishment. And here in the 21st century we are ready to tear down the most precious basic civil rights for what amounts to societally as a bloody nose.
I'm not in favor of that policy.
I am in favor of a policy that invents a massive amount of money in rebuilding our healthcare system and our disease control infrastructure. I'm in favor of creating for a healthcare system that as a society we can afford, and not pie in the sky proposals for socialized medicine for all, and universal tracking. We need about 20,000 more hospital beds in NYC alone, including isolation facilities. We need to speed up our genetics and vaccination programs, reduce the cost (the actual cost not just the out of pocket payments) of healthcare, reduce its bureaucracy, and unshackle our healthcare system so that it is an economic driver in our society, and not a bankrupter of our public purse.
We need to prioritize the domestic production of our drugs, and medical infrastructure, so that we don't run out of ventilators during an epidemic, and we need the manufactoring basis to provide basic hospital supplies. We need travel and trade restrictions to nations that repeatedly can not or refuse to maintain basic health and safety standards, and that would include closing wild life food markets that are pushing species into extinction and creating pandemic health threats.
We don't need to track every human on the planet. What we need is to stop eating bats.
