The drive-by shooting death of a 66-year-old man in Brooklyn may have
been linked to tensions with a neighbor, police said Monday.
Andrew Grizzle was blasted multiple times in the upper body early about
6:05 p.m. June 2 while sitting in a vehicle at E. 92nd St. and Church
Ave. in East Flatbush. Medics rushed him to Brookdale University
Hospital, but he could not be saved.
Alfred Simpson, 58, who was sitting with him, was also shot repeatedly
in the upper body, but he survived. He was taken to Kings County
Hospital in critical condition.
The gunman, who fired from a Lincoln sedan, is still being sought.
Police said the shooting might be linked to an issue Grizzle, who lived
just up the block from the scene of the shooting, was having with a
neighbor.
“Quiet guys, nice guys, they would hang out on the corner together all
the time,” the porter at Grizzle’s building said. He and the other
victim would often spend time in a small park near the shooting, the
porter said.
Simpson is in dire shape, a cousin told the Daily News.
“He can’t speak... his brain is barely functioning,” said the cousin,
who didn’t give her name.
“They are two innocent people, they don’t deserve to die like that. They
don’t bother anyone, they’ve lived in the building for years.”

More than a dozen candles were placed near a photo of Grizzle in his
building’s lobby, and loved ones set up another memorial on the corner
where he was shot. His family declined to comment Monday.
