To Carolinedliny, Thank You for your input. As you said, they "perform same professional work...and continue to specialize..." I guess my question, more, or less (with my limited brains), is why is there a difference? And, you are correct, D.O.s do what M.D.s do the same thing.And vice versa. Chop, slice, dice. Different tribes, I suppose. Does not really matter. If one is in a hospital bed, one wants the best trained, learned, smart-ass person walking through the door. D.O., M.D., Witch Doctor, maybe.
