You have the analysis COMPLETELY wrong with regards to this virus.
None of the nations that thus far got this under control, which is
nobody actually if you understand epidemiology, did so with nationwide
lock downs. They did it the hard way, buy tracking the disease, and
isolating infectious pockets and sources, just as they did in the old
days, but with more technology. And your over playing the deadliness of
this virus. As a fact, if you go by the science, this is a moderately
deadly virus, on the scale of pre-vacination measles, and purtusis.
Look it up on Wikipedia if your uncertain of this. This virus, while
deadly, is not the kind of disease that should shutdown western
civilization. That is just hysterical propaganda. Saying that it will
kill millions of 'souls', that is just not that unusual for diseases,
not historically, or even currently. Medical people deal with death
from disease all the time, every day.
The universal lock up is very unhealthy for people. It results in
deaths and suffering. The economic disaster we currently are suffering
from will also kill people and make them suffer. The most important
facet in protecting ourselves from a virus like this is a rapid response
with a strong economy. Without that, we are just fodder for the virus.
It also doesn't take a genius to understand that if the virus is exposed
to lockdown, it will just return. NOBODY argues this fact. In fact, it
will mutate and return worst than currently, because the only virus
mutations that survive will last longer in the open air, and have other
means to transmission that overcomes our method. Also, versions of the
virus that are most deadly propage themselves in hospitals. So, what we
are doing is a time bomb. Not only is our strategy not going to work,
but it will perpetuate itself as the "New Normal", and it will become
increasingly easier to transmit and increasingly virulent. And then
there are animal reservoirs, which is never discussed in the media. And
then there is the NEXT virus. Accepting this as the "new Normal" is a
dangerous precedent, and I will not accept it.
You need to ask yourself how long we are going to be willing to undergo
isolation because of a virus, that at worst has a mortality rate of
0.67% of the total population? 6 months? A year? What about the young
children who are going through vital social development at this time?
There are a generation of 6 month olds and year old children that need
to have vital social interaction in order to properly and healthy
develop? How much longer can our mothers and families suffer under this
duress?
I was surprised to hear your broadcast in support for this hysteria and
blaming the President. Whether in favor of Trump, or against him, no
other administration would have, up until now, handled this much
differently. You may not be focused on this currently, but both
Presidents and hospital morbidity and mortality boards constantly get
memos about catastrophic scenarios. We are increasingly looking at a
political situation much like Ah Pook the Destroyer[1]. The only means
of protecting ourselves is not to isolate ourselves, but increase
spending on healthcare, hospital beds, vaccination technology, and good
old fashion nursing. That, and shutting down trade with Communist China
which continues to perpetuate conditions that encourage the exposure to
the world of these kind of diseases, which stamps on human rights, rapes
the environment, and represses their own people, and are directly
culpable for this pandemic, are what we should do to to prevent this
from happening again. But no one was willing to close down trade with
China. Are you proposing that?
We do need more science. We do not need more hysteria. And we don't
need our myopically focused 'experts' making broad decisions and to be
in charge of the messaging. It is terrible that millions of people will
die of this disease, but it is not particularly unusual, and it is not
cause to shut down all of civilization.
We do need to take reasonable precautions not to aggravate the damage
from this disease. We can't, however, be shutting down everyone forever
in the desperate hope that this virus will then just 'go away'. This is
a dangerous fantasy fed by misunderstanding the data. Quarantines have
diminishing returns. Vaccinations, Sanitation, and anti-microbial drug
are the tools used to fight infectious disease. People need to
understand this virus is NEVER going away and the best tools we have to
fight this virus is a healthy social structure, sound economics, and
support for the working class, who is taking this on the chin the worst.
We can't accomplish that by staying holed up in our homes. In
addition, human beings can't do this anyway.
You Do, I hope, understand that people can not remain locked up in their
houses for long periods of time, especially in highly urbanized
societies that function through human interdependence. This is not a
Jeffersonian utopia of yeoman farmers living independently off the land,
caucusing only on occasion when bartering our milk and cheese.
All the social messaging in the world can't change that. The idea of
using social messaging as a tool for repressing peoples freedoms is a
tool of the left, one which China is well acquainted with. I openly
oppose it. Human beings need their freedom more for then just for
political needs and Democracy, but they also must have freedom for there
mental health, and their fundamental humanity.
This lockout needs to end... now. Government needs to get serious about
getting vaccinations up and going as if people are going to die, because
they are. They need to ramp up the hospital beds, as they are needed.
They need to normalize the mortuaries, and the medical work shifts, to
handle this up tick in Wuhan(covid-19) virus cases. And then we must
reevaluate our economic relationship with China, and travel regulations
with the far east, especially when it has to do with healthcare
products, like drugs, masks and ventilators.
