You can read the newsletter on the web, if you prefer=2E http://perlweekly=2Ecom/archive/453=2Ehtml
Hi there,
I believe many of you work from home these days which is both hard, especially if you have young children, but many of you also save a lot of time not commuting=2E
It seems that all the conferences, Meetups, and Perl Monger meetings are now cancelled, but I wonder, have you started to organize on-line meetings= ?
Two weeks ago, when the semester was postponed at the Weizmann Institute o= f Science, I ran my 'Programming Bootcamp for scientists' online=2E It wasn'= t easy (5 days, 9:00-17:00 with 30 students) but we managed=2E On-line meeti= ngs have challanges, but they also have advantages over class-room trainings= =2E
Since then I ran two workshops every week=2E I am still trying to figure o= ut how to replace the mingling part to build community around it, but it is certainly interesting=2E
Have you attended any on-line meetings? Have you organized any? Let us kno= w about your experience!
-
Just a few minutes after writing this I chatted with Thomas Klausner (domm= ) who mentioned that some of the German Perl Monger groups already organize on-line events ( https://domm=2Eplix=2Eat/perl/2020_03_virtual_perl_events= =2Ehtml )=2E So if you are German-speaking and could never attend a meeting as all= of them were too far for you, now you can actually join them on-line=2E
Domm also mentioned that if you are interested organizing on-line events, the venue mailing list of YEF ( http://lists=2Eyapceurope=2Eorg/mailman/listinfo/venue ) is available for = you=2E Register there!
Then I got a message from Todd Rinaldo telling me about the Conference in the Cloud ( https://perlconference=2Eus/tpc-2020-cloud/ )=2E That is, The = Perl and Raku Conference in the cloud=2E
Finally let me tell you about another, much smaller, initiative: Thomas Klausner and myself are going to host a 'Mob programming ( https://szabgab=2Ecom/perl-mob-programming=2Ehtml )' session for Perl (and maybe also for Raku) programmers=2E See below!
Enjoy your week!

Hi there,
I believe many of you work from home these days which is both hard, especially if you have young children, but many of you also save a lot of time not commuting=2E
