SUBJECT | Subject: [Hangout - NYLXS] A community response to COVID-19
|
[ From Coursera’s CEO, Jeff Maggioncalda ... ]
A message to our learning community The spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19)
is the most serious global health security threat in decades. Our hearts go out to all who have been affected by the outbreak, and we are deeply grateful to the thousands of healthcare workers who are on the front lines helping their communities. Many countries are imposing much-needed restrictions to slow the spread of COVID-19. But these restrictions are also causing unprecedented disruption for students. Already, 400 million
students are impacted, and colleges and universities are working hard to find solutions. I am writing to update you on how we, along with our community of university and industry partners, are responding to this global crisis. * If you’re looking for fact-based information about COVID-19 and how it spreads, I highly recommend taking Science Matters: Let’s Talk About COVID-19
, a free course by Imperial College of London, one of the top public health research universities in the world. * If you have questions regarding the outbreak, you can find additional resources
from world-renowned public health experts in Coursera’s partner community. * With the full support of our partner community, we’re working to assist universities and colleges around the world impacted by the coronavirus outbreak with free, institutional access to our course catalogue. * To protect our team and help with containment, our employees around the world are working remotely. We remain as passionate as ever in supporting your learning goals and finding ways to connect you to courses and information that may be helpful to you during this time. All of our digital channels, including our Learner Help Center
, are available to you if you need assistance. I would also like to share various resources our team has put together to help you navigate this crisis: * If you or someone you know is learning online for the first time: You can share these 8 tips
from our Teaching & Learning team. * If you’re looking for ways to keep learning with your kids: Talk with parents around the world
and share your favorite resources. * If you’re looking for advice about moving in-person learning online: You can reference these best practices
from our Teaching & Learning team. * If, like Coursera, you and your team are shifting to remote work: You can join others in our community to discuss strategies and share advice
. We will continue to share more resources and updates on our blog
and social channels over the coming days and weeks. As we grapple with the enormous scale and human impact of this pandemic, our global community continues to support and learn from each other. I invite you to share your questions, ideas, and comments
with the community and hope that Coursera can serve you and those you love during these difficult times. Coursera is here together with you. Sincerely, Jeff Maggioncalda CEO, Coursera Connect with Coursera [FB]
