I have practiced medicine and that is always a BS aurgment to cover up good
medical practice. We risk peoples lives all the time to afford a better
outcome for the general population. That is what infectious disease
medicine is all about. Every week, if not every day, Physicians,
Pharmacists, and epidemiologists sit down and lay out the guild lines
that decide who is to recieve a treatment and who will not. And be
sure, people die because of these decisions, but even more die if not
for the application of practical medicine. Nightly I had to tell
physicians that the Pharmacy would not release agents to be used for
patients that were ill. And monthly we churned over the resulting
charts. At the VA itself we reduced overall mortality from Pnuemonia my
over 50 percent, saving about 35 lives a month over baseline.
It is not prudent to collapse the entire economy over this virus, and
yet here we are, blindly doing just that. This is not ending in a week.
This is going on, perhaps forever???
At minimal this is going to continue until we have broad vacination, and
pharmacological intervention. Industry can not sustain inaction for
that long. By the time we get out of this, most of the economy will be
collapsed.
