ution of MTA Ticket Glitch

e:12.0pt;line-height:106%">A glitch in the MTA’s bus-mounted camera e=
nforcement system resulted in hundreds of erroneous violations issued to mo=
torists for parking in the B44 bus lane on Nostrand
Avenue at Avenue I.

e:12.0pt;line-height:106%">The section of bus lane effected is located on t=
he east side of Nostrand Avenue, from Avenue I to Avenue H. This particular=
stretch of bus lane is only active during
morning and evening rush hours, from 7:00a to 10:00a, and from 4:00p to 7:=
00p. Because the bus lane is curbside, parking is permitted during the lane=
’s inactive hours.

e:12.0pt;line-height:106%">Bus-mounted camera enforcement on the B44 SBS ro=
ute took effect on December 30, 2019. Since then, many motorists were issue=
d violations for parking in the bus lane
during inactive hours, when they were permitted to do so. The fines, which=
start at $50 and are raised for each offense within a 12 month period, wer=
e set to cost innocent car owners hundreds in penalties.<=
/p>

uncilmembers Chaim Deutsch and Farah Louis to alert them to the matter. The=
two Councilmembers brought the error
to the attention of the MTA, who quickly acknowledged the error, and agree=
d to dismiss the incorrect violations and expunge them from the driversR=
17; records.

snafu, said, “We are so grateful to Councilmembers
Deutsch and Louis for quickly resolving the problem for us. Between myself=
and my employees, we were facing hundreds of dollars in fines that we didn=
’t deserve. Within days of contacting Deutsch and Louis, our unfair v=
iolations were dismissed. Thank you!”

ters, so car owners who think they may have been erroneously issued a summo=
