Speaking entirely as a reader and not a moderator: agreed. Finding a way to make your point in as few words as possible is an essential skill, but it takes practice. If you find that you are tending to produce stream-of-consciousness / free-association style texts, I encourage you to slow down, figure out the precise "killer points" you want to make and say the minimum necessary to convey those points. If your email is long, don't send it yet. Chop away at it to remove the fat so that your real point is unmistakable.
If your text instead simply exhausts your reader, they won't know what you are even trying to argue. Then they'll tend to a) get progressively more annoyed with you and / or b) start to outright ignore your responses.
