that same people keep making false accusations against GNU and RMS, and
they should not be given a public forum to do so. This includes this
poster. He is ducking his own guilt for making false accusations
against an innocent man, RMS, by throwing about terms with negative
connotations that are emotionally charged for the purpose of distorting
and ending conversation.
This behavior doesn't just deserve censorship, it should be greated with
disciplinary measures, and a firm official rebuttal from the GNU masters
who treat this vital issue, as if they were debating parking
regulations. Nobody should be allowed to use GNU channel to continue to
foster lies on the public and to call Stallman a child molester or
someone with a history of behavior detrimental to the cause of Free
Software, or illegal.
This poster has accused RMS of behavior over decades that would require
his supporters to "look the other way", and now turns about and says
that blow back at him for making this false accusation and disparaging
statements, with real world consequences the Stallman's personal well
being, as "gaslighting". This behavior should not be allowed. It is
not even legal. It is libel on the law.
Richard emails me today and asks me if I "want to learn how to advocae"
for his position the proper way by his supporters. The problem with
that is, that you guys fail at a very basic level. The outrage against
these personal attacks on RMS should have been visceral and official
from the very start of this, a few months back. Soft selling to bullies
is a useless endeavor, and this is an example of what you get with
"kindness". Bullies perceive this as a form of weakness, and they
respond by going for the throat.
The people who wage these false allegations at RMS are following a well
known script, that is predictable, and well coached. This was an
example of just that, the throwing about of emotional terms of
victimization without any specific collaborative evidence for the
purposes of incitement. It could be lifted right out of the pages of
William Shakespeare's tragedies.
The people who have been throwing around these false accusations have
not been alone in their guilt of tarring and feathering RMS, not to
mention "Old White Men". For bad things to happen, all it takes is a
few decent people to turn away and do nothing.
Everyone in the governance of the FSF and GNU is guilty of allowing this
to have mushroomed. It should have been vigorously defended from the
get go.
The discussion going on this list about moderation is useless. No
mailing list is important enough to create change. They facilitate it
by what they motivate in the real world, and by having a permanent
archive of what was discussed. But in of themselves, they are
completely useless. It is a delusion of grander to believe otherwise.
It is not how things are expressed that should be debated. It is what
is being said. In a series of cased now, we have purposefully hateful
attacked on the person of RMS being allowed to propagate. Saying that
RMS is in favor of molesting children and cause for discriminating
against women in favor of "old white men" is not valid points of
discussion and debate. They are crass allegations of wrong doing and it
should not be tolerated by the GNU organization, such as it is, or the FSF.
