Neptune Ave Train Stop To Get a $75 Million Elevator
4 weeks ago admin
New York City is spending $5.2 billion (with a “b”) on elevators and
elevators at 70 stops across New York City, an average of almost $75
million per train stop. One of those train stops will be the F train
stop Neptune Avenue.
Since the cost of installing an elevator that goes up one floor averages
only $20,000-$45,000, at first, we strongly considered putting this
article under the category of crime, but we are now certain that the
elevators and escalators will be made of pure gold with multi-carat blue
diamonds as decoration.
Nationally, it costs $150 per square foot to build a house, complete
with hardwood flooring, upscale bathroom tiles, modern kitchen cabinets,
roofing, walls, plumbing, electrical, foundation and all else it takes
to build a very nice house from scratch. For $75 million you should be
able to build nearly 400 brand new houses at 1,300 square feet each. Or
you can build an escalator… See, and you didn’t believe us when we said
that the escalators will be made exclusively of gold and diamonds.
Our money is also being stolen, sorry, spent to buy new buses at $1.5
million per bus, which seems like a downright bargain compared to the
$75 million dollar elevators. New subway cars will come in at $3.2
million per car, about the same as Israel’s Merkava-4 tank, known for
being almost impregnable in battle. Since the average train has 8-11
cars, the cost is $26-35 million per new train – but again, a tremendous
bargain compared to the $75 million escalators.
In all $51.5 billion will be spent on the various similar upgrades. The
ridership on all New York buses and trains is 1.757 billion rides per
year, meaning the price of each ride would need to be raised by $1 for 3
years just to pay for the Golden Escalators and Merkava-type train cars.
Alternatively, taxes can be raised by $16,500 per average household.
P.S. For those who just don’t get it, the point isn’t that we shouldn’t
get these upgrades, but that we shouldn’t pay that much. Just because
you need to drive your kids to school in the morning, doesn’t mean you
should spend $10 million to buy a Honda.
