I want to thank you for taking the common sense stand against closing
Rikers Island. The closing of Rikers Island, amoung other things, has
flooded our streets with homeless from the Psyc Wards at Rikers into the
streets. This crazy policy is choaking our city and has destroyed Kings
Highway. The description of calling the incarciration of criminals in
our jail system a form of Jim Crow is racist on the part of those that
view it this way, and pure unadultrated bigotry.
Congrads for doing the right thing. Nobody is going to want these jails
in the boroughs and the medical and psycology facilities at Riker will
NEVER be duplicated.
This Mayor and his supporters HATE the working communities of Brooklyn,
and this closure program is a large part of the war on families in the
city of NY.
