wo rallies took place yesterday, one organized by former Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D – Borough Park) and the other by counter-protesters. The Hikind rally condemned anti-Semitism, while the counter-protesters condemned Islamophobia, with each side accusing each other of the claim.

Dov Hikind, a well-known supporter of Israel, demanded that Max Rose come out in favor of removing Ilhan Omar from the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee over comments he and others view as anti-Semitic, including the claim that Jews control the government using their “Benjamins.”
He also condemned Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as “ignorant” for recently comparing migrant detention centers on the Mexican border to Nazi concentration camps. “I’d like to ask her, ‘Have you ever read a book on the Holocaust, ever in your life?’” Hikind said.
Curtis Sliwa and former three-time Republican candidate Bob Capano stood with Dov Hikind, but were outnumbered by the left-wing counter-protesters who condemned them as Islamophobes. Murad Awawdeh, the organizer of the counter-rally in support of Congresspeople Max Rose and Ilhan Omar, accused Hikind of being “a failed Assembly member [who] is spreading hate.”
Congressman Rose condemned Dov Hikind’s rally as “political games” for which he doesn’t have time.
