Dear Ruben Safir,
As I write this message, 4,700 people in more than 80 countries are card-carrying Free Software Foundation (FSF) associate members.
Each of those members has made a point of supporting the FSF's work for free software and user freedom for the long haul. They may be one of over 700 students giving $5 per month, or someone who is able to go above and beyond, contributing $240 per year or more -- whatever the amount, every single associate member has made the choice to commit their support.
You already donate to the FSF, and we deeply appreciate that. Why not [become a member][2] today?
[2]:https://my.fsf.org/join?pk_campaign=spring18&pk_kwd=ado
FSF associate membership is $120 per year (or $10 per month -- $5 per month for students), and comes with an array of [benefits][3], including that member card I mentioned, which doubles as a 4GB USB loaded with Trisquel Live, a fully free GNU/Linux distribution. Show it off the next time somebody asks what causes you support!
[3]:https://www.fsf.org/associate/benefits
Members also receive a digital badge to display on their personal Web site or social media profiles, up to five member.fsf.org email aliases, a 20% discount on [FSF merchandise][4], gratis admission to the annual [LibrePlanet free software conference][5], and other discounts and member exclusives.
[4]:https://shop.fsf.org/ [5]:https://libreplanet.org/conference
Why do we shower associate members with useful benefits, discounts, and flashy ways to tout their support of the FSF? Because we appreciate them: member dues account for more than half of our annual revenue, and with that support, the FSF has continued to upgrade infrastructure and services for GNU and other free software projects, kept free software activists informed and armed with attention-getting talking points on user freedom, and advocated for the GNU General Public License in government and corporate venues alike.
This support keeps us independent and able to put the free software community first, always. Thank you for your stalwart support.
Happy hacking!
