SUBJECT | Subject: [Hangout - NYLXS] [luny-talk] Signal is now available as a Desktop
|
Signal, the encrypted messaging system for Android and iOS that used to be named "Redphone" and "TextSecure", now has a standalone Desktop application available for Mac, Windows, and Debian-based Linux.
https://www.signal.org/download/
There is source code available to compile for non-Debian Linux:
https://github.com/WhisperSystems/Signal-Desktop
And of note: reading through the forums, it seems this current codebase doesn't work on FreeBSD or OpenBSD right now.

Previously Signal could be installed as a Chrome App, but Google has decided to deprecate Chrome Apps for all platforms except Chrome OS.
