The problem is that the MTA is LINED with transformer stations
throughout the entire system (like the one on 16th Street and Avenue P
for example) and after consulting with any MTA electrical engineer, and
I spoke to several, that it would take several consecutive lightning
strikes to have any kind of serious affect on the railroad.
They lied. What they are afraid of saying is that the new signals they
installed are fragile and broken in design.
