I had a patient cry today. As I explained to her that her co-payment was
over $3000 for her cancer meds she sobbed. I could barely make out her
words but as she described her situation I began to tear also. Her
spouse died earlier in the year. Her son was attending the last year of
graduate school and it was clear she could not afford the meds. As I
heard her describe her situation I could not help but imagine myself
alone. Sick and stuck with all these problems. I thank God that the
co-payment assistance team at Accredo - An Express Scripts Company was
able to get her the medication absolutely FREE. If I have nothing else
in this career I have the privilege of helping out such a kind soul.

No that is a scam. The drug shouldn't be that expensive to begin with
and it drives the patient into increased dependency of abuser in the
first place. This is like a women who is beaten and then is driven back
to her abuser because he shows her a glimmer of compassion. You have to
understand that the system is a fixed pricing scheme from the ground up
and there is no charity on the part of the PBMs.

How brash is this that one arm of express scripts is posting sob stories
and distorted information to another arm of express scripts? I don't
understand what kind of individual one has to be that does something
like this. It requires a stone cold heart to be this calculating and
take advantage of the sick and dieing to this degree. As a lifetime
pharmacist, dealing with tens of thousands of crying patients, and
psychotic patients, and tragedy of every kind, and can't comprehend the
mindset that posts propaganda so callously in order to promote a system
which is exploitative to the core.
