You're very welcome. I've test-installed Devuan several times going all the way back to well before the release candidate, and even then it was extremely solid. With the 1.0 full release, I expect it's even better in that area.
You want a pretty desktop, ditch the default GNOME thing. ;->
ISTR it offers by default MATE or Xfce4. Personally, I went with None of the Above, as per usual, but at minimum I'd urge going with Xfce4 and getting away from the GNOME brain damage.
I also think personally that there are much better init systems than SysVInit that one can choose without ending up in the clutches of Poetteringware (e.g., systemd). OpenRC, for example, which among others is fully packaged and works great. In fairness, many if not most of the Devuan people strongly agree, but reverting the systemd decision and getting back to its predecessor (SysVInit) as an initial default installation choice was a logical step.
