Here's an idea, why don't you try reading a little, among the materials I've already pointed to? Things you'd encounter a great deal would include automated provisioning, automated testing, and automated software/systems building and deployment. You'll end up using a lot of Jenkins or competitors, git/mercurial/svn, your choice of Puppet or Chef or Ansible, kickstart or worse things, and a bunch of testing and metrics tools.
Automated, automate, automate. Measure, monitor, track, build, sandbox, deploy, test, In fact, do test-driven development, and ensure continuous feedback.
Oh, and do it all faster and on a lower budget. ;->
