I'm encouraging everyone who is thinking about going to the Perl
Conference next month to register and to start making their travel plans
now.

The USPTO conference center is in a part of Alexandria where all the
hotel rooms are priced on the presumption that they're being paid on
corporate expense accounts.

The Holiday Inn which is the official hotel is $179/night -- expensive
compared to previous YAPCs but, with the conference discount rate, is
the cheapest in the neighborhood and is walkable.

The less expensive hotels/motels tend to be located on Richmond Highway
which is across a river and an interstate highway. So, they're probably
not walkable but would be < 10 min by car.
