That might be true but FWIW, you are talking about one of the best package builders in the Free Software World...
Look him up if you doubt me.

I'll look at this but two things need to be notes:
First, this is for my workstation not a server. Secondly, and this is a huge problem historically - Debians desktops tend to be more broken than anyone elses. I get so fustrated with Debian's desktop software.... they just drive me crazy.
I'll probably look at Gentoo, but I like the Arch packaging system, and truthfully, the Manjaro guys are in a good mindspace. They build a lot of packages from source, and are up to date on the source releases, and cater to newbies while not sacrficing the commandline user.
I like them. They are approachable and have long fuses when it comes to dealing with folks.
