No, not really. There's just a great deal more on the Internet, and Page Rank assigns prominence pretty much exactly the same way it always has -- with proprietary tweaks, of course, that they don't talk about.
You don't like that, feel free to run your own search engine. Me, I find the situation as a whole to be immensely better than it was.
