Deirdre and I were in Calgary in July 2005 for the annual Westercon
(western region literary science fiction convention), that year's
convention (Westercon 58) being called Due North.

I somehow expected Alberta to have more residual British culture, and
was feeling a bit nostalgic for the colonial Hong Kong of my youth, and
man, it sure didn't feel even a particle British. It seemed a bit more
like Denver with a slightly odd accent. But I did like the place.
Speaking of Colorado, next year's Westercon will be in Westminster, CO
