SUBJECT | Subject: [Hangout-NYLXS] ny.pm tech meeting next Monday;
|
Reminder of two events:
I. Monday, February 13 6:30 pm Social Flow 52 Vanderbilt Avenue, 12th Floor, Manhattan (corner East 45 St; any train to Grand Central)
In February, New York Perlmongers will host a presentation by Christopher Frenz on the technology known as "fuzzing" and its role in information security. Chris writes:
"The days of applying security patches, sticking a firewall in front of your server, and considering it secure are well since past. Vulnerabilities in applications themselves now far exceed those at the network level and the OS level and as a result application security has become critical to ensuring the security of any organization. Unfortunately, for many development shops awareness of secure coding practices is still not commonplace. This presentation will address how fuzzing fits into the larger secure SDLC process and then take a more in depth look at how fuzzing can be used to identify potential security vulnerabilities within applications."
Thanks to Sam Kaufman and Social Flow for hosting this meeting.
II. Monday March 6 Deadline for proposals for presentations The Perl Conference (fka YAPC::NA) 2017 http://www.perlconference.us/tpc-2017-dc/cfp/
Thank you very much. Jim Keenan
