( whether going to meetings anymore ? ) This is directed specifically to me ? I will eventually get to the meetings again, although I haven't heard of them in a while. Last I heard was the hotel with the wifi in Brooklyn, I would check it out.
Info to whom it may concern: As of a few weeks ago, all the weird problems with Linux on my MSI system are cleared up now, and the system works flawlessly. How ? -
1. ran FSCK, it found a bad bit or byte, I forget which, in the MBR and repaired it. 2. then ran updates, and got a message that a new, correct driver was available for the Nvidia graphics card and recommended it- "Do you want to install it ?" Heck yeah !
These steps resolved all issues, most recently which was on boot up: "Kernel panic, CPU's not syncing, timed out" etc.
Note that these events took place with Mint 17.4, I could not get Open Suse to install properly. Would this new Nvidia driver also be available to Open Suse ? ( i.e., the new driver was provided to the Linux kernel, or from the Mint development group ? I dunno. ) ______________________________________ -----Original Message----- From: hangout [mailto:hangout-bounces-at-nylxs.com] On Behalf Of mrbrklyn-at-panix.com Sent: Sunday, July 24, 2016 5:10 AM To: NYLXS Discussions List Subject: Re: [Hangout-NYLXS] linux capat laptop cheap | | | Linux laptop / Android GRIPE !

Would be interesting to know if this system could be upgraded to all 64-bit. Android topics recently circulating: I have a Note II android phone- my gripe: don't know if it is Android or the browser, but while commuting, I load some webpages to read when I go underground into the subway. But, the device tries to refresh the page I guess, and when it can't ( no signal underground ), it WIPES OUT THE ALREADY LOADED PAGE, gives a blank screen with some stupid message "can't connect" or similar. Ok, you can't connect now, but why wipe out a page you've already got ( and used up some data allocation for ) ? ? ! ======================================================================= =========================================================
