Create Native iOS Applications in Java with RoboVM ================================================== Use Java 8 features on iOS??? Building the same mobile application for both iOS and Android can be tricky. With different development tools and ecosystems, it is difficult to share code and best practices in a team. It would be really cool if you could use Java, Scala, Kotlin or other JVM languages to build your mobile apps. RoboVM is a tool that allows you to build Java 8 applications that run natively on iPads and iPhones (and Android too btw) without using JNI. Share code, tools, libraries and best practices all in Java.
From Imperative to Reactive Programming ======================================= By now you've probably heard about Reactive Streams, RxJava, and reactive programming. The change to reactive however involves much more than just learning a new API or using a hot new library. It involves a fundamental shift in the way application logic is written from imperative to non-blocking. This talk explains what the change from imperative to non-blocking means and demonstrates through examples how to use reactive libraries to compose asynchronous application logic. We will also focus on explaining the role of the Reactive Streams specification for interop among non-blocking libraries and components.
