Ahem. There's something very wrong going on in either the construction of einker's mails (at GMail) or at the mailing list end.
FWIW, einker's mail showed in mutt (as received here) like this:
Date: Wed, 30 Dec 2015 17:32:42 -0500 From hangout-bounces-at-nylxs.com Wed Dec 30 16: 9:37 2015 From: einker To: NYLXS Discussions List Subject: Re: [Hangout-NYLXS] California sounding increasingly peachy Reply-To: NYLXS Discussions List

So, something wonky immediately in the mailing list's display by mutt's default pager. I then used the mutt command (v) to list the components, showing this:
I 1 [multipa/alternativ, 7bit, 1.4K] -> I 2 |-> [text/plain, 7bit, utf-8, 1.2K] I 3 `-> [text/plain, 7bit, utf-8, 0K] I 4 [text/plain, 7bit, us-ascii, 0.1K]
The first of those displayed as null.
The second, the 'text/plain, 7bit, utf-8, 1.2K' one, says this (followed by the entire previous thread, quoted):
Ask Albert Hammond ..... He Knows!
Third portion shows null. Fourth portion is the mailing list footer.
I _think_ this shows that something in your MTA/MLM setup is processing multipart/alternative mails wrong.
