This is actually a reprint without credit of a Phyllis Chesler article in _FrontPage Magazine_, http://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/260607/jewish-professor-hounded-california-riverside-phyllis-chesler . _FrontPage Magazine_ is one of several outlets for the views of neocon pundit David Joel Horowitz and associates.
Article headline mistakenly claims the Nussbaum incident happened at 'California Riverside Campus' -- which is sort-of correct but a little misleading to those with some knowledge of southern California. Reference is _not_, as some might assume, to University of California at Riverside, and was not in the town of Riverside at all. It was at Mt. San Jacinto College, a four-campus community college in Riverside _County_, where Nussbaum chairs the Sociology Program. (This is southeast of Los Angeles.)
Mr. Joe Cooper's uncredited re-post is actually Part 1 of a two-part Chesler series (mostly) about the Nussbaum matter -- and doesn't make a great deal of sense without Part 2. Part 2 is here:
http://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/260648/installing-jew-hatred-americas-campuses-phyllis-chesler
Essentially, after Nussbaum raised objections to Peled appearing as a sponsored speaker, according to Nussbaum, Mathematics faculty member Shahla Razavi conducted a multi-month campaign against her at the college, after which at a faculty meeting she says she was grabbed by four opponents including Assoc. Prof. of History Gary Vargas who thereby detained her against her will for a while. She took legal action against the Vargas for assault (and eventually also legal action against the college).
Nussbaum charges that during internal investigation of the incident, the college was negligent, dilatory, and notably partial towards Vargas, and then began undermining her professional standing at the college.
