We've joked about this before but I actually do think that we can make a diffence right now in forking a new distribution, and real one, and not just a new face on an old one. I don't see a viable long term desktop option without systemd in any of the distros and we should do this. We can use Arch as a starting point because its package management allows us to make packages from tarballs with minimal fuss, and that will allow up to launch and move perpetually forward without systemd. As we move along, we will get more expertise, so they won't leave us in the dirt adn we will be field tested for the major ports that will be coming to things DTEs
There is a good launching point with this manjaro openrc port which is dependent largly on vintage arch infrastructure.

maybe we will get good enough along the way to fix a few things, like resotring sanity to x11 cut and paste, reducing firefox to webbrowser only status..
