SUBJECT Subject: [NYLXS - HANGOUT] Anybody munching on Raspberry Pi?
I just stated on these little Linux machines, running what I can find for them to test. The say its a rather limited system if one expects too much out of it but if one stay's within the understanding of it being a credit card sized computer based on a couple of chips and a few ports, one can do a lot with it.

And though I started on the Raspberry Pi, I hope to go into the other Small Board Computers (SMCs) by the end of the year. BeagelBone looks interesting, while Banana Pi if a Chinese version of the Raspberry Pi they cloned and pumped up on steroids for the Olympics. Even Intel just threw in their hat into the ring with their (I think) Magellian board powered by Debian for under $80. Before then they had the Minnow which could do Windows and Linux which went for $1200 despite being 3X5 inch board. And there are others.

Micro Center (computer stores) in Brooklyn and Queens were selling the older Raspberry Pi Model B for $25 a week ago. I do no know if that sale is still on or if they ran out of Pi's, but $25 is a start. But you will need to spend more to get it going. Wireless Wifi/KB/Mouse, and a tiny power supply for it will set you back another $40 or so, and if you do not have the HDMI or Composite monitor, you will need a HDMI to SGA Adapter which goes for another $20.

I also started in getting dead ones from Ebay for cheap (have 2 so far) and I have some possible ideas to get them running again (voltage regulator replacement in at least one of them, USB Ports on another I just did) but parts are hard to find.

See you guys online.

~Fernando!
