Unfortunately all of these pieces seem to be in flux AFAICT, so I'm not surprised when we find we're running problems with them. i.e. I think these issues are "distribution agnostic" -- that they're likely wider-spread than just OpenSuSE.
I'm having frustrations with systemd, efi, and video drivers too. My system occasionally hangs indefinitely during bootup and I think that's systemd related, and my laptop will no longer come back from sleep due to new changes in the nouveau driver within the kernel itself. Coming back from sleep yields a screen of "video noise" which looks the same each time such that the appearance is some kind of video memory corruption during the wake-up sequence. X11 video drivers could also be related.
