I had started doing "Movie Night" when I was living in Brooklyn, and I quickly discovered nobody wanted to watch recent movies; they'd seen them all already. So I switched tactics and started showing "Forbidden Planet" and "The Forbin Project" and Movie Night turned into easy wins. Pretty much any movie that's older than your guests are seems to work. First time I ever saw the Andromeda Strain was in Brooklyn.
*shift* Hollywood's been pretty bad about preserving its past. The Internet isn't looking a whole lot better, other than what the Internet Archive is doing. How much of our media is still going to be playable 50 years from now? I've already got media files from the Interweb Bubble Era that won't play properly or at all on anything.
