Dear Ruben,
We hope you're enjoying your summer, despite the record-setting temperatures! If you're looking for someplace to cool off, remember the Brooklyn Museum is here for you.
Looking ahead, there are lots of exciting events coming up for Members this fall, starting with our Members-only Fall Exhibition Preview on Thursday, September 27. Our three fall exhibitions will be open to Members from 1 - 10 p.m., with a special reception in the Rubin Pavilion from 6 - 10 p.m. We hope you can attend and enjoy this special opportunity to see our fall exhibitions.
For families, we're hosting a Young Artists Open House on Saturday, September 29. Children of all ages and their families are invited to meet artist Jean-Michel Othoniel, delve into a Mummy Maze, and try out an Arty Facts class for free. Members will receive special access.
Members at the Patron-level ($350) and above are invited to a Reception and Curator-led Tour of special exhibition Jean-Michel Othoniel: My Way on Wednesday, October 10, from 6 - 8:30 p.m. Whether you're not familiar with his work, or you're an expert, this exhibition presents a survey of his remarkable twenty-five-year career, from his first intimate, enigmatic works made of sulfur and wax to his recent large-scale, colorful glass sculptures.
Finally, we're offering a New Member Orientation on Saturday, October 13, starting at 12:15 p.m. New Members, as well as those who have not had the pleasure of hearing our Chief Curator, Kevin Stayton discuss the rich history of the Museum, are invited to attend this lecture. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the story of our iconic building, and the influence of our founding curators on the Museum's collection in the early twentieth century.
Have a great August, look forward to seeing you in the galleries soon!
