Last week my reciver on my sterio finally started to die. There were a few incidents over the years that damaged it but and all things considered $140 Onkyo reciver lasted more than 10 years of near nonstop use so I feal I got my moneys worth out of it. So I decided to get a new Onkyo reciver one of the THX recivers they just came out with last month the TX-NR616. Well I got a supprise while looking for the english version of the quickstart guide I found my self looking at a printed copy of the GPL and LGPL. Aparrently my new reciver is a GNU/Linux box with things like libogg, libFLAC, thttpd, etc. installed. I'm not usually supprised when I find out an appliance runs GNU/Linux any more but it never occured to me my sterio might run it one day. What I found really supprising is they actually printed a copy of the licenses an the copyleft statments from all of the software installed I've never seen a company actually do that before, and I have to say I was plesantly surprised.
