TelX will guarantee your connection, your power and your up-time 99.99999% of the time as long as you pay the bill. It is where Google and Yahoo have their American North East hub at. The New York branch of the FBI and NYPD Digital footprints are there (on a lower floor at 60 TelX). >
And cheap! I'm paying for it
> Sure, the free site in West Virgina sounds cool but when you want and need 24/7 hour access to your server, air-conditioned server floor (not a server room or server closet), and dial-in tech service or do-it-yourself, nothing beats TelX. Being able to choose one's own connection can give you anything from a fractional T1 to a full blown OSD-128 and 265 lines at the lowest price available. I had a cabinet there with 15 Xserves and 2 solid state SAID/RAIDs with a OSD-23 line that was equivalent to 50 T3 lines -at- 20gb/sec access and 64 IP addresses (though I only used 15). Theoretically, I could upload 4GB movies in under a few seconds provided that the Torrents could match my speed. All this was $1200 a month, and that was cheap. Sharing a Rack with a Fractional T1 will be for under $200. You would need to call and ask. > > I'll give my set up this much - it survived a 30 day hack and flood attempt by 4Chan on one of the servers that I had a chat room in 2006. They tried, and failed. It was the combination of the line's speeds and the ssd-said/raid that I was using that saved it. I logged gigbit packets, megabyte pings, maximum chat room data input at a rate of 24gb a minute from 1200 4chan users. From the information the logs showed, I challenged tot he admins of 4Chan with it and swore if nothing was done I would shut them down. I did for a period of 30 days. They banned members and had the ones who started the attack arrested. > > NYCWebs - an ISP in Brooklyn near Eastern Parkway (Dont know if they are in business anymore) could not survive an attack from the "I Love You" Virus, while the server I had was running fine. In fact, since my server was the only one running, it held the ISP's DNS as it servers died. I was blamed for that one and proved that it was the stupid admin owner's fault and decided to take down my server from their site. I also took down a clone they tried to create from my system. > > > > ________________________________ > From: Paul Robert Marino > To: hangout-at-mrbrklyn.com > Sent: Sunday, April 29, 2012 5:29 PM > Subject: Re: [NYLXS - HANGOUT] Server move > > > Telex is good but it will still cost you. > They just provide space and power you still have to purchase internet serveice independantly. > Host monster is ok but its shared hosting. > If you like I can ask if we can set it up in my fathers barn (new insulated barn not never used for animals) in wv.
