I beat you in the idiot department. I thought some of them were my friends. I've learned a lot about trust since October. And yes, I should have known better, especially about two of them.
I understand how you're trying to help NYLUG, but I give you my blessing to walk away if that matters. FWIW, saving NYLUG is no help to me. Either it's worth saving on its own merits or it's not, and either it can be saved or it cannot. As to the first, the question is what is being saved. And again, I feel it's just the domain name, and principle. NYLUG sure as hell isn't that group of non-participants and Brian that appointed themselves as "the board". They can call themselves that and while it's offensive and their plans for NYLUG are offensive to its essence, all they really have are three domain names, and this has been too hard on too many people over a set of domain names.
As to the second, I don't see how you can stop them without lawyers and lawsuits. Is it really worth all that for three domain names and the principle of the thing? It seems like a terrible waste of everyone's time, money and other capital. We all know what's happened here, and that'll have to be enough. It's a story that will never go away, thanks to the Internet, it should serve as a warning to others not to deal with the NYLUG junta. At this point, I would rather see people use their energy on positive things, and avoid the coup participants at their own peril.
