ah
The Charter meeting for tomorrow was supposed to be a call in pconference call, in an attempt to get more of the parties involved. I wanted to have us at what I thought was going to be live meeting. As it turns out, I think we need some more support and I really would like Mike to chair this stuff instead of myself.
But aside from all that, as a matter of reflection, I originally wante toget this charter done quickly and not lose momentum, and instead it has dragged on and on to the point where a lot of the parties have just tuned out. Then a lawyer showed up last meeting and the direction of the board executives, has shifted from direct election to appointment by an elected general board, which IMO, puts a huge dent in the ability for future groups or individuals to be represented in NYLUG. As they want it, an opposition would have to sustain nearly a decade of opposition before a real change would come to the operating officers. But they knew what they wanted going into the last meeting and a lawyer was there to support the position.
Regardless, if they only have Peter, Brian, Sunny, Rob and Brian show up, and a lawyer, I'm not serving any purpose chairing. I don't know what happened to Mark and Kevin and Jeremy and Baruch and Hanna and Ron and Chris et al.
I'm just feeling exhausted. I've tilted at these windmills for many years, and I'm just tired.
