Not True. In fact its the biggest crock of shit I ever read. I have been looking for a job since May and have not been able to get anything other than a weekly gig teaching digital media to a bunch of kids!
There are more jobs for Windows administrators than there are for Linux. Further more, Windows pays more unless you are in a datawarehouse and expected to manage 10,000 servers at once. Programming is another issue; There are more jobs for C++/C## than Perl, and they pay more too. Most companies are looking for php/mysql programmers to put up websites and expect to be paid a poultry $12 - $15 hour. As I remember programming in the 1980's, programmers were being paid $2000 - $2500 weekly, and get royalties from their work!
The fact is there are more disgruntled web and app programmers in the Occupy Wall Street than there are actual unemployed people protesting. Their problem is 2-fold; 1) they dont look at their contracts when signing and 2) they think they can out-program a hardware issue and end up having a shotty program that rarely does what is expected. They think they can learn programming from a book and do the "Hello World" program and expect to be experts in their field.
