Just to clarify, I think the problem isn't one of Microsoft malevolence so much as OEMs taking the easy way out. Linux is too important to be kicked off the boat everywhere, but this could be a problem for new OSes yet to be created maybe.

I think the thing that is most important is that a healthy user group is about its community, and the people who pitch in and make it a community instead of a cabal or a company.
