It works without the virtual box being active. Originally I had planed to install it on a virtual windows OS and connect though that. However once I had the vista 32bit installed the 3G started working. Same with the vista 64bit, the 4G started working. It connects using the Clear connection I set up, and the Sprint 598U connection that the Debian NYC set up. When I do the Cnet speed test the speeds is usually above 500kbps.
