We had a terrible experience trying to get textbooks into public schools
but look what these guys did.

Free High School Science Texts

Mark Horner from the Shuttleworth Foundation posted a blog entry about
how you can do your part in making free high school science texts
available. The books are already available for download and needs a
final review before it's first publish.
The books cover Grade 10-12 Mathematics and Science. When the reviewing
process is complete, it will be submitted to the Department of Education
in South Africa for acceptance and distribution in the country.
This could be a huge milestone for free content in education. In
Edubuntu, these texts will also be packaged and available from within
the Edubuntu system in a future version.
